Western Albemarle girls lacrosse’s offense is just cranking right now — the Warriors are just on fire.

Western built on last week’s offensive explosion against Albemarle and spread the ball out a little more against Hanover Tuesday night en route to a 15-2 victory and a spot in the Region 4A title match.

“We’ve been working super hard practicing every single day,” said Western’s Libby Carbo. “We’re super excited and we think we’re going to go pretty far this year.”

Mattie Shearer and Mallory Greene each scored four goals and Shearer played the role of distributor too with four assists on the night. The Duke-bound senior also hauled in nine draws and picked up a team-high four ground balls.

Carbo and Lanahan each scored twice and dished out an assist for Western and Julianna Murphy also chipped in a pair of goals. Katie Alhusen rounded out the offensive effort with a goal.

Western keeper Kenedy Buntrock made four saves for the Warriors. Greene also snagged three draw controls for Western.

The Warriors will face Monticello at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the region final.
