Keeping it going

Albemarle’s boys lacrosse team built on the momentum the Patriots picked up with a narrow, come-from-behind win over Western earlier in the week with another victory over a cross-county rival Friday.

The Patriots’ multi-faceted offense got going again against the Mustangs and rolled to a 15-4 victory. The win keeps Albemarle unbeaten in West Central Division play.

Hunter Brown and Ian Davis each went for hat tricks with Brown also dishing out a pair of assists on the night. Matt Crist registered three assists of his own while Garrett Smith and Zac Willis put together two-goal nights for Albemarle.

Kevin Bernardino, Sam Calhoun, Andrew Hogg, Josh Moran and Luke Roberts all had a goal each. Hogg and Moran also had assists.

Kyle Seago finished with five saves on the night for the Patriots.

Will Snipes led Monticello with two goals, Andrew Gibson and Matt Trainor also had a goal. Tyler Wagner had an assist while Ben Landers made 10 saves.

The Mustangs will try and bounce back Tuesday on the road against Fluvanna County while Albemarle tries to keep the momentum going while hosting Charlottesville the same night.
