Basketball Roundup 1.14.15

Monticello guard Meghan Comer burst on the scene as a freshman who already possessed a deft shooting stroke and helped jumpstart the Mustangs program. So it’s appropriate that as a senior, she reached the career 1,000-point barrier with a 3-pointer and a win Tuesday night as the Mustangs beat Powhatan 56-41.

Comer finished with 10 points for the Mustangs.

Molly Shephard paced Monticello with 16 points on the night as her long-time teammate reached her career milestone. Shephard became a 1,000-point scorer late in her junior year.

Kiana Scott finished with 12 for the Mustangs as well as Monticello stayed unbeaten in Jefferson District play.

The Mustangs will hit the court again immediately Wednesday night with a home matchup with Waynesboro High barring complications from weather.
