Woodstock rolls past William Monroe

William Monroe’s defensive woes continued Friday night as the Dragons absorbed a 62-21 loss at the hands of Central Woodstock and fell to 0-6 on the season.

Woodstock running back Daniel Molina did most of the damage with a 300-yard rushing night that included four touchdowns from 34, 15, 3 and 17 yards out. Molina also had a 56-yard punt return for a touchdown.

But the Woodstock passing game got going too with Hayden Bauserman going 8 for 13 for 211 yards and three touchdowns with all three scoring tosses going to Travis Cooper, who had 172 yards on six catches.

Monroe’s offense managed to get some things going while the defense faltered, with Cody Perkins rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Jack Morris finished 10 for 21 for 174 yards, including a 62-yard toss to Dakwan Morris early in the game that evened the score at 7-7. After a Morris 18-yard touchdown run the score was 14-14, but 48 unanswered points gave Woodstock more than enough to pick up the win.

William Monroe now jumps into rivalry week against Madison County as it looks to snag its first win of the season.
