Woodberry knocks off St. Christopher’s

It’s hard to be more efficient than Wooderry Forest’s Christian Zaytoun was on Saturday in a 35-13 Prep League victory over St. Christopher’s.

Playing all the snaps after splitting them with Lindell Stone, who suffered an injury against Benedictine, much of the year, Zaytoun was nearly flawless against St. Chris, going 11 for 12 for 114 yards and two touchdowns, including a 55-yard toss to Zach Roderick.

The Tigers also got a tremendous performance out of the ground game from Evans Riviere and a guest spot by star defensive back Nathaniel Tyrell. Riviere rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown on 23 touches while Tyrell ripped off 63 yards and two touchdowns on just four touches.

Jared Hash also checked in with a solid performance of 31 yards on seven carries.

Roderick led the Tigers’ receivers with 71 yards on four catches, highlighted by his 55-yarder. Pat Shea also had four catches, with his going for 21 yards and a touchdown.

Logi Portugal had an interception for the Tigers.

The Tigers will cap the Prep League schedule next week when they go toe-to-toe with Fork Union.
