Western boys tennis pounds Handley

The still perfect Western Albemarle boys tennis team made quick work of Handley in the Region II quarterfinals, 5-0.

Alex Preve and Teddy Nelson were both dominant in the two and three spots for the Warriors. Will Diamond and Tom Lewis also were strong at the bottom of the ladder and after Andrew Loving fought through a tight first set of his match, he cruised in the second to wrap up the day.

Cam Scot was in a battle at the top of the ladder, taking the first set, dropping the second and up 3-2 in the third, but once his teammates earned the necessary five wins, his match was called off.

The Warriors (19-0) host its Region II semifnal on Thursday at 5 p.m.
