Western baseball’s Payne throws five-inning no-hitter in win over Spotswood

Western Albemarle’s pitching was as locked in as its been most of the season and the Warriors’ lineup came alive Thursday too in a 10-0 victory over Spotswood.

 

Western sophomore pitcher Garrett Payne struck out seven and walked nobody in a five-inning no-hitter as the Warriors cruised. He helped his own cause with a double. Brendan Campbell knocked in three runs for the Warriors while Jacob Lively and Chris McGahren knocked in two each. Wyatt Hull and Derek Domecq each knocked in a run too while Lively had a double.

 

Western had nine hits as a team as seven of Western’s starters recorded hits.

 

The Warriors will try and keep the offense going against Charlottesville Friday at 6:30 p.m. on the road.
