Western Albemarle picked up its eighth-straight win Saturday night, knocking off Fort Defiance 62-41 in the postponed Warrior Tip-off Classic behind 23 points by Christian Pierce.
Pierce put together a solid performance with five rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals, lifting the Warriors in their third game of the week as teams across the area try and pack in contests this month.
Travis Hester was also a key spark for Western with 16 points and five rebounds, while Dante Crawford finished with eight points and six boards. Crawford also finished off an alley oop from Cody Davis.
Stephen Schuler had a nice game off the bench, giving the Warriors a defensive spark.
Pierce earned the tournament MVP while Crawford earned all-tournament honors. Covenant’s Sam Dale and Nelson’s Quincy Murphy also picked up all-tournament nods.
