Western Albemarle’s boys tennis team is going back to the state tournament.
The three-time defending champions secured a berth in the Group AA tilt Thursday afternoon with a 5-0 win over Broad Run, cruising past the Spartans with Alex Preve, Teddy Nelson, Andrew Loving, Will Diamond and Tom Lewis picking up singles wins. Now a matchup with Sherando, which should prove a big test, looms Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Region II final.
Diamond rolled 6-0, 6-0 in his match, and Preve and Nelson both closed out their final sets 6-0 too.
