STAB football picks apart Virginia Episcopal

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s football team didn’t have the ball much Saturday as Virginia Episcopal tried to play keepaway with the Saints.

But STAB made the most of their few chances and made sure that VES didn’t hang around to try and steal one.

In a 43-14 blowout over the Bishops, quarterback Lee Parkhill went 5-for-7 for 208 yards and a trio of touchdown passes, kickstarting the Saints’ big play offense as STAB moved to 8-1 on the year.

Two of those three touchdowns came in the second quarter as Parkhill hit Campbell Miller for 26 yards and a score and then found Jalen Harrison for a 70-yard touchdown. By halftime, the Saints were up 22-0 and Parkhill wasn’t done just yet. He hit Jake Allen for a 55-yard touchdown early in the third as the Saints kept rolling.

Virginia Episcopal held the ball four times as long as the Saints, with a time of possession north of 38 minutes. But every time STAB got a chance they pounced with a big play.

DeeJay Anderson also got in on the big play action with a 65-yard touchdown as the Saints continued to employ a pack of running backs. John Woodson carried five times for 33 yards and two touchdowns and Jake Allen carried for 13 yards on three touches.

Harrison finished with 116 receiving yards and a touchdown on just two catches, with his other reception going for 46 yards.

Louis Williams rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries for VES to spearhead the Bishops’ clock-grinding style.

STAB wraps up the regular season with a rivalry clash against Blue Ridge before moving on to the VISAA Division II tournament. A win against the Barons will clinch the No. 1 seed in the tournament and homefield advantage throughout.
