Albemarle’s district wins aren’t coming easy this season, but they’re holding tight to every one they can grab.
Albemarle edged Riverbend on the road for yet another 3-2, five-game victory.
Jessie Block set the table all night for Albemarle with a whopping 53 assists while Stephanie Strauss and Megan Napolitano crushed 25 and 24 kills respectively. Kelley Barker also got into double digits with a 10-kill performance.
Sarah Terlesky led the defensive effort with 17 digs.
Albemarle jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of 25-17 victories. Riverbend bounced back with a victory in game three, then won game four as well.
The Patriots righted the ship after that though, jumping out to a 7-3 lead before the game see-sawed back to a tie at 8-8. Strauss an Napolitano both put together back-to-back kills to put Albemarle in control for a 15-12 victory and the match.
Albemarle holds onto the Commonwealth’s first place spot with the win, moving to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in district on the season. Brooke Point tackles Albemarle next in a home game for the Pats at 7 p.m.
