Playing in the semifinals of the Group AAA singles tournament in Fairfax, Megan Napolitano lost for the first time all year as Maureen Slattery out of Warwick High took down the Albemarle junior, 7-5, 6-1.
The loss is just Napolitano’s fifth of her high school career. In three years the Patriot has amassed 67 wins.
And unfortunately for Albemarle, things didn’t get much better for Napolitano and teammate Abby Lesnoff, also a junior, in the doubles semifinals. The duo finally met their match in Mills Godwin’s Kelly Stewart and Nicole Parker, falling 6-4, 6-0. The loss is the first of the year for Napolitano and Lesnoff in doubles this year. The two who are at the helm of Albemarle’s ladder are 40-3 when playing together.
