Madison County’s volleyball team knocked off Orange County last night on the road, winning 3-2.
Madison jumped out early, taking games one and two, but Orange turned the tide in games three and four to force a decisive fifth game. Madison managed to close out the match then with a 15-7 victory.
Seniors Samantha Cubbage and Amber Robson continued to lead the Mountaineer attack with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Cubbage was also strong at the service line, dishing out five aces with junior Molly Shifflett chipping in with four of her own.
Setter Jordan Aylor ran the Madison offense efficiently, notching 32 assists and also came up with five kills of her own. Senior Amanda Whittaker had five kills on the night while classmate Megan Clark, the Mountaineers libero, led the defense with 11 digs.
