Monticello softball pounded out 15 hits against Charlottesville en route to a 9-1 victory in the Jefferson District quarterfinals.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and Charlottesville couldn’t muster much of an offensive response.
Freshman Amber Dillow went 3 for 4 with a triple for Monticello and knocked in a pair of runs. Rachel Eplee also had a solid night, going 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Victoria Scott matched her usual big night in the circle with a stellar performance at the plate. Scott went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Scott struck out 14 and walked nobody as the pitcher, surrendering just two hits.
Lynley Price rounded out the offensive assault with a 3 for 4 performance.
Monticello will play in the semifinal at Western Albemarle at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
