Monticello’s volleyball team hit the road and fell Tuesday night, dropping a 3-1 decision to Powhatan, a future member of the Jefferson District.
After falling in the first two games — including a narrow 26-24 loss in game two, the Mustangs bounced back with a 25-15 win in game three. Powhatan then responded with a 25-21 game four to close out the match.
The Mustangs got a trio of strong performances despite the loss, with Kate Geldmacher coming up with 18 kills, Taylor Hopkins had 12 digs and Mariah Williams dished out 38 assists.
Monticello takes on Orange County this Thursday at home.
