Monticello baseball drops Fork Union

Monticello’s baseball team picked up a solid win Saturday afternoon, blowing out Fork Union Military Academy 11-4 on the road.

Justin Flevarakis and Josh Malm each had a big day at the plate with Malm going 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Flevararkis going 3 for 3 while scoring once. Max Mann also had a multi-hit game with a pair of hits on the day. Natte Fox, Bobby Andris, Evan Despian and Alex McNair each had RBIs.

Brandon Beasley, Sean Byrnes and John Page combined on the mound for the Mustangs, surrendering just six total hits while giving up three earned runs and striking out seven.

Austin Stone did most of the damage for Fork Union, going 3 for 4 from the leadoff spot while scoring twice and knocking in a run. T.J. Dudley and Christian Hackenberg each also had RBIs for the Blue Devils. 

The Mustangs are slated to travel to Harrisonburg at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
