Thanks to a combined shutout pitched by Kyle Davis and Travis Warren, Madison County was able to pick up a 9-0 win over Rappahannock on its senior night.
While the two pitchers paired up to strike out 13 batters, the offense received a gift to start. Madison went up 3-0 in the first on a trio of walks, a wild pitch and two sacrifice flies.
In the third the Mountaineers more than doubled their lead on an RBI triple from Davis, and error and a 2-run single from Mason Bowman.
Up 7-0, Madison scored it’s last two runs of the night in the fourth and sixth inning. Colin Tucker doubled in the fourth and was brought in on an RBI single from Davis. Finally, Warren was able to make the most of reaching base on an error with a steal and another error to allow him to take home.
Davis had a big night both on the mound and at the plate. One of the team’s three seniors, Davis went 2 for 3 with a triple and had a trio of RBI.
Madison (8-11) travels to Clarke County for its final regular season game on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
