Jenkins steps down at Albemarle after 21 years

Last year saw long time Charlottesville coach Harry Terrell hand in the clipboard, now Central Virginia is going to be without another long time fixture of the girls basketball community. After 21 seasons at Albemarle, Anita Jenkins is stepping aside.

“It was a hard decision,” Jenkins said. “But after 21 years I’m just ready to take some time off.”

The long time Albemarle coach isn’t sure at this point if she’ll be involved with the team in some small capacity but noted that she’d certainly be in attendence to continue her support of the team she devoted so much of her time to. Jenkins leaves a team that she greatly enjoyed.

“This has been a wonderful group,” Jenkins said. “I couldn’t have picked a better team to go out with than this group. We’ve had a lot of fun.”
