Goochland’s ground game has been picking up steam of late, but even considering that fact, Friday was an explosive performance for the rushing attack in a 52-22 victory over Prince Edward.
The Bulldogs piled up 500 yards and six touchdowns as a team, with three players rushing for more than 100 yards, as David Dyer’s 181-yard, two-touchdown night led the way. Jaylen Allen went for 121 yards on just seven carries — including a 43-yard sprint — while Connor Saunders had 101 yards on nine touches.
That offensive explosion prevented Jordan Jefferson from having to air it out ofte, as he went 2 for 6 for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Dyer got the scoring started with a 4-yard touchdown in the first quarter, which kickstarted a 27-point first half for the Bulldogs who led 27-14 at the break.
Goochland will finish the regular season on the road against Amelia County as the Bulldogs continue to gear up for the postseason.
