Goochland didn’t throw together huge numbers against Nottoway, but the Bulldogs put together a balanced, workman like effort against the Cougars to roll to a 35-14 victory at home Friday night.
Eleven different Bulldogs got a chance to carry the ball as Goochland finished with 189 yards on the ground, but Goochland also got it going in the air more than they usually do with quarterbacks Jordan Jefferson and Reid Chenault combining for 130 yards passing. Chenault tossed a touchdown to Jefferson, who finished with 56 yards receiving while not playing quarterback. He also had seven solo stops over on defense.
Mitchell Brice got back into the swing of things with a 96-yard night on the ground on nine touches that included two scoring runs. The rest of the ground attack was spread among the fleet of ball carriers that Goochland employed.
Nathan Adams led the Bulldogs with 13 total tackles, including 10 solo stops on the night.
Goochland continues its James River District slate with a clash against Cumberland next week on the road.
