Fluvanna girls soccer shuts out Louisa

Fluvanna County girls soccer shook off a slow start to beat Louisa 2-0 Monday night, scoring a pair of second half goals before holding on in a game that was a bit of grinder from start to finish.

“They were a bit unpolished, but we got the job done,” said Fluvanna’s head coach, Kat Ditta.

Fluvanna senior Kaitlin Bower and classmate Kelsea Herring notched the two first half goals for the Flucos against the Lions’ young side.

This year, the Lions have only four seniors on the team, while the Flucos have eight, though in a year where seniors didn’t get to play their junior season, anything can happen and the young Lions really gave the Flucos a run for their money.

Although the Flucos held on to pick up this win, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the coming weeks according to Ditta.

“Tomorrow is a new day,” said Ditta. We will work on playing a little faster and getting back to the identity of soccer and how we have been playing this season. We are going to stay positive.”

The Flucos will take on Albemarle High on the road Thursday while Louisa locks up with the Patriots Wednesday night.
