Competing in just their second Junior Olympic volleyball tournament of the year, The Elite, a 16 and under Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club team, fininished in first place in their division this weekend at Virginia’s Memorial Gym after a 7-1 performance.
Teams from Central Virginia Northern Virginia, the Tidewater area and Roanoke, The Elite were fueled offensively by Western Albemarle’s Katie Rossberg who totaled 28 kills through out the tournament. Fellow Warrior Marin Crowder tallied 36 digs while Monticello’s Rianna Jansen contributed 25 of her own.
Previously, the local squad came home with a gold bracket performance in Washinton D.C. as they placed ninth of the 80 teams participating. The Elite will head to their next tournament on March 28th at Western Albemarle.
