Covenant’s football team is officially picking up steam.
Two weeks after bouncing back from a season opening loss, the Eagles snagged a huge road win Friday night against Hargrave, rolling 48-13 over the Tigers.
Austin Llera led the Eagles’ attack with 172 yards of total offense, carrying the ball 15 times for 111 yards and a touchdown while also hauling in a 61-yard catch.
He led a three-headed rushing attack with Quan Washington and Drew Gaffney combining for another 145 yards on 15 carries between them. Gaffney had a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Jay Gaffney was efficient at quarterback, completing five of eight passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for a pair of scores.
Spencer Godine had a pair of catches for 61 yards and one of Gaffney’s touchdown tosses.
The Eagles (2-1) host Massanutten Military Academy Friday at 4 p.m.
