Buckingham trips up Randolph Henry

Randolph Henry cut short Buckingham County’s James River District tournament run, but the Knights ended Randolph Henry’s season in the teams’ fourth meeting.

Buckingham pulled away in the fourth quarter to grab a 61-47 victory Wednesday night in the Region B quarterfinals. The victory sets the Knights up against Dan River Friday night at Amherst High.

The performance was typical of Buckingham’s other wins this season with a balanced scoring effort and solid defense. Caleb White led Buckingham offensively with 15 points and five assists. The junior also had three steals and a pair of blocks in the victory.

Cam Johnson chipped in 13 points and the other Buckingham player in double figures was Tariq Bartee, who had 10 points. Tarian Ayers had seven rebounds and five assists while turning the ball over just once. Kevin Bolden yanked down eight rebounds and had two blocks.

Khari Jenkins led Randolph Henry with a game-high 18 points.
