Buckingham rolls Cumberland in home finale

If you’re trying to score on Buckingham County’s defense, you might be able to slip one in — but that’s probably going to be it. The Knights are averaging less than one goal allowed per contest in 2011.

That defense Buckingham wrapped up its home slate Wednesday by coasting to a 7-1 victory over Cumberland.

Goalie Jason Conway came up with five saves on the night to hold Cumberland in check. He’s anchored the defense that’s allowed just six goals all year, with half that total coming in a single 3-3 deadlock.

In the final home game, usual suspect Mikey Amos and Peter Johnson scored twice but the Knights also got goals out of Charles Fenaux, Bobby Dandridge and Marco Knezevic.

Buckingham (6-1-1) wraps up the regular season next week against Central Lunenburg.
