Buckingham blows out Bluestone

Buckingham is picking up some steam now.

The Knights, who stumbled out of the gate with a loss at home against Appomattox, crushed Bluestone Friday night 49-14, with a 28-point second quarter jumpstarting the blowout.

Kenneth Johnson piled up 224 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries. Leon Ragland proved a versatile threat at quarterback too, with the sophomore going an efficient 4 for 5 for 81 yards and a touchdown to Justin Ayres while rushing for 59 yards on 11 touches. Ragland also forced a fumble on defense while Johnson led the Knights with eight total tackles.

Ayres had a pair of catches for 41 yards. Jesse Hickman also had a solid night receiving with 40 yards on two catches. Jael Gough had 33 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

John Edwards had six stops on defense, including two for a loss. He also threw a seven-yard touchdown.

The Knights (2-1) now have a lot of momentum going into Friday’s clash with James River District foe Goochland.
