Blue Ridge cross country goes 2-0 on week

Blue Ridge’s boys cross country squad had a solid week last week with a pair of dual race team victories at home, winning 27-31 over Fishburne and 26-30 over Steward.

In the Fishburne race, Chip Collins of Fishburne took first with a time of 20:30, and the Barons and Caissons alternated finishes after that before Ian Burgin, Augie Relihan, Chris Weldon and Mark Meng finished back-to-back-to-back-to-back at the sixth through ninth spots to lock up the Blue Ridge victory.

Braden Barrett finished second in the race for Blue Ridge with a time of 20:47 while Matt Kim took fourth for the Barons.

A few days earlier in the season-opening win over Steward, Barrett set the pace again for the Barons, this time winning the race at 21:24, well out-pacing the Steward in second place. Burgin clocked in at third while Kim grabbed fifth and Daniel Vettichira took sixth.
