Bishop Sullivan edges STAB in double overtime

St. Anne’s-Belfield may be filling a lot of spots this season with new faces, but the Saints didn’t play like it against a Bishop Sullivan Catholic squad in Virginia Beach stacked with transfers from Beach District schools Friday.

The Saints fell 34-28 in double overtime, taking Bishop Sullivan to the brink behind a four total touchdown day from Jake Allen.

Allen had three touchdowns and 66 yards on the ground while throwing for 116 yards and another score.

Bishop Sullivan scored in the second overtime on quarterback Nick Ott’s two-yard touchdown plunge, but missed the point after attempt, potentially opening the door for STAB. But on fourth down, Bishop Sullivan’s pressure got to Allen and sacked the signal-caller to end the game.

Bishop Sullivan’s Jamil Kamara had four catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Brice Tucker put together a solid night for the Crusaders on the ground though with 128 yards and a touchdown on 12 touches.

STAB will get a chance to bounce back next Saturday on the road against Virginia Episcopal School.
