Albemarle volleyball picks up first Jefferson District win

Albemarle volleyball is off to a good start in its first Jefferson District campaign after Tuesday night.

 

The Patriots rolled 3-0 over Fluvanna County on the road, winning a hard-fought first set 27-25 before getting into a rhythm with a 25-11 and 25-15 victories in games two and three.

 

Albemarle’s Lexi Brown led the way on offense with eight kills and two blocks while Sarah Woods and Chelsea Woodfolk had seven kills each.

 

Hannah Deal finished with 17 points and eight aces to dominate from the service line and Michaela Malboeuf chipped in a pair of aces. Taylor Bauman’s 14 digs led the Patriots while Ellie Benning dished out 28 assists.

 

The Patriots move to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in Jefferson District play.

 

Albemarle will host county rival Western Albemarle Thursday in a match that continues a fast start to JD play for the Patriots. Fluvanna will try and bounce back at home against Orange the same night.
