Albemarle and Orange County both managed to place players on the 2011 All-Commonwealth teams, as the Patriots and Hornets wrapped another challenging year in the district comprised of teams from the Stafford County and Fredericksburg areas.
Here are the local players who made the squad. Orange’s Hunter Ferguson, who doubles as a goalie during soccer season, was the lone first team defensive honoree while Tyler Seal got his due as a first team offense honoree at utility after filling a variety of roles for the Hornets during a trying season. Albemarle’s Eli MacKay found a spot on second team as the lone junior at linebacker — the other honorees on first and second team were all seniors. The Patriots’ Ryan Londree was the only lineman to earn a nod on both sides of the ball.
