Albemarle girls tennis stays undefeated

As the defending Commonwealth District champions with a slew of talent back, it could be easy for the Albemarle’s girls tennis team to occasionally look past an opponent. The Patriots are starting to learn that can’t happen in an improving district.

“Some of these teams caught us by surprise early and we are determined to not let that happen again,” sophomore Caroline Chisholm added “Maybe we looked past them based on last year’s results but today proves that when we assert our will, good things will happen.”

The Patriots topped an vastly improved Colonial Forge squad at home 6-3 on Monday to stay unbeaten in CD play and move to 8-1 n the year. Albemarle beat Colonial Forge twice 9-0 last season, but the veteran Eagles gave this year’s edition of the Patriots a run for their money.

Megan Napolitano took a win at No. 1 in singles and Alison Henry, Maddie McCullough

and Ivy Haines follows with individual wins of their own. Haines rallied to grab her victory. The Patriots followed the solid singles outing and capped the team victory with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
