Albemarle girls tennis starts season with 9-0 sweep

Without the services of the top player from its last two Commonwealth District champions, Megan Napolitano, the Albemarle girls tennis team managed to pull of a 9-0 victory over Brooke Point on Tuesday. In Napolitano’s place, junior Abby Lesnoff held strong at the number one slot as she dispatched the Hawks’ top player, Alexis Hudson.

Patriots coach Rich Lindsay also tried out three new doubles teams, with all three winning convincingly. The match also marked the return of Maddi McCullough back to the courts for Albemarle. The junior missed last season with a stress fracture. McCollugh, along with freshman Allison Henry, earned a 10-0 win in the third doubles match. Eva Ng and Ivy Haines, the team’s second doubles squad did the same.
