Albemarle girls tennis rolls over Patrick Henry

The Albemarle girls tennis team is one step closer to a state tournament berth.

The Patriots hosted Patrick Henry-Roanoke the Northwest Region quarterfinals on Monday at Boar’s Head Sports Club and rolled 5-0 over PHHS.

Both teams share the Patriot mascot but that was where the similarities ended Monday. Albemarle, the more experienced squad, made quick work of the youngsters form Patrick Henry.

In staggered matches that were played on three courts, the top of the Albemarle ladder did what it needed to do with Megan Napolitano, Tori Kuhn and Abby Lesnoff rolling to wins. Only Lesnoff dropped a single game.

The No. 4 through No. 6 seeds kept up the pressure and Elise Lord and Eva Ng got the team to the needed five wins. Albemarle will host the Loudoun Valley/Forest Park winner on Wednesday in the Northwest semifinals.  Albemarle is now 19-1 on the season.
