Albemarle boys tennis wraps up CD title

There’s still a good chunk of tennis to be played, but the Albemarle boys wrapped up a Northwest Region birth on Thursday with its 7-2 over Stafford.

Jon Gunderson made his first appearance in the singles ladder and earned a 10-4 victory in the six spot. Brian Chen played his best tennis of the year according to his coach Chip Grobmeyer and blanked his opponent, Will Janey, 10-0.

With the Indians taking a pair of contests in the singles portion of the match, the outcome was still in question heading into doubles. However, the Patriots took all three matches to earn the lopsided win.
