Albemarle baseball wins third-straight game

There are a lot of new faces in the mix for Albemarle baseball in 2019 but the Patriots are off to a solid start, beating Harrisonburg  10-0 Monday night in six innings to move to 3-0 on the year.

Chris Cook put together five innings of one-hit baseball, striking out eight without walking anyone in a sterling performance. Thomas Fischer closed out the game with three strikeouts in the sixth.  Chase Miller scored twice.

The Patriots capitalized on six Harrisonburg errors while posting five hits of their own. Shortstop Jett Shue went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs while Jack Bruns also went 2-for-3 and scored once. Hunter Shifflett, Cook and Fischer each knocked in a run.

The Patriots left 12 on the bases despite the 10-run output.

Albemarle starts Jefferson District play next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at home against Louisa County.
