Albemarle baseball knocks off Monticello

Albemarle High exploded offensively Tuesday night, and some solid pitching from Austin Turner helped the Patriots make all that offense count in a 15-0 victory over Monticello.

Turner threw four innings and surrendered just four hits in the victory.

Joey Varaksa led the scoring output with a nine-RBI night, cracking a pair of home runs, one for three runs and the other a grand slam. Varaksa went 4 for 4 and had a double as well.

Kristian Nathan checked in with a homerun and three other Albemarle hitters, Joe Burris, Lee Carneal and Zach Evans had multi-hit nights that included doubles.

Albemarle ran up 17 hits as a team. The Patriots host Spotswood Wednesday at 5 p.m.
