Covenant rolled through the state semifinals, but met its match in the final against No.1-seed Carlisle, falling 2-1.
The Eagles’ Maddie Thornton knocked home the only goal. Covenant blasted 14 shots against Carlisle, but the opposing goalie was up to the task. Carlisle managed just three shots, but made the most of them.
Three Covenant players, Taylor Brown, Lina Godline and Kristy Lehong were named all-tournament.
The Eagles are stocked with young talent, so the future is bright for Covenant. Seven players on the Covenant roster are freshmen or eighth graders.
Covenant finishes the season 17-4.
