Western boys, girls soccer sweep Fluvanna County

Western Albemarle boys soccer was attacking Fluvanna County relentlessly Monday night, creating chance after chance including one they cashed in on in the first 30 seconds.

The Warriors rolled 8-0 past the Flucos with Jack Magargee and Alex Keeton eachin scoring twice for the Warriors. Casey Williamson, Sam Vigilante, Jack Vigilante and Conner Riggin added a goal each.

Aidan Sherlock and Lachlan Murphy each had three assists while Sam Vigilante chipped in two assists of his own.

Fluvanna County keeper Zach Fontenot did his best to keep the Flucos in it with a sterling array of saves, but the Warriors simply just kept attacking, kept knifing through the Fluvanna defense all night.

The Warriors host Louisa County Thursday while Fluvanna will look to regroup after a challenging start to the schedule (they played CHS last week) at home the same night against Orange.

Western girls beat Fluvanna

Western Albemarle’s girls team got another strong offensive outing from the squad’s young players in a 4-0 victory over Fluvanna County on the road Monday.

The Warriors’ freshman Reese Mattern scored twice and classmate Phebe Ryan notched a goal of her own. Junior Gabi Andres rounded out the scoring with a goal as well.

The Warriors will look to keep things rolling with a road game against Louisa Thursday ahead of Monday’s clash with rival Albemarle while Fluvanna travels to Orange on Thursday.
