Orange County softball went on the road Friday night against Western Albemarle and the Hornets came home with a win that clinched the Jefferson District title for the second season in a row.

Orange rolled 11-1 over the Warriors, blowing the game open for good in the top of the fifth with a five-run frame. A pair of home runs got that spurt started with Haley Martin hitting a leadoff jack to center field before Maci Fayard ripped another long ball to center that also scored Ja’chelle Mosley.

Orange tacked on two more runs on passed balls to wrap up the inning and build a 10-1 lead.

Fayard went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs on the night while Reese Rogers went 2-for-3 with a double and knocked in a run. Mosley went 2-for-5 and scored once and posted an RBI. Ayla Fincham stole three bases.

In the circle, Hannah Hearl started and threw five innings, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit and one earned run while allowing a single walk. Martin took over for the final two innings and struck out three and allowed just one hit.

Wynter Morris hit a home run in the fourth inning for the Warriors and Hannah Varner went 1-for-3 at the plate and stole a base. Morris was also solid in relief, striking out two in two innings while allowing three hits.
