Just five days after William Monroe used some stifling defense to knock off Nelson County on the road, the Dragons used offensive balance Monday night to knock off the Governors 61-51 at home.
Alex Kinsey led the way with 17 point for the Dragons while Calvin Turner posted a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Parker Woolford and Logan Barbour each came close to a double double of their own, with Woolford notching seven points and 10 rebounds while Barbour had nine points and eight assists. Blake Shifflett rounded out the balanced offensive effort with eight points on the night.
Last week, Monroe held the Governors to just 31 points, but Nelson found more of an offensive groove this week despite trailing 37-17 at the break. Brice Wilson led Nelson with 11 points while Houston Carter chipped in 10 points.
William Monroe will face archrival Madison County Wednesday night at home while Nelson hosts Rapphannock the same night.
