After a two-game skid to close out the regular season, St. Anne’s-Belfield girls soccer got things going offensively against Veritas Tuesday in the LIS’s opening round.

The Saints, ranked No. 6 in the state in the last VISAA poll, rolled to a 5-0 shutout win over Veritas, with sophomore Gia Woodfolk and junior Bailey Cullen leading the way with two goals each. The offense peppered the Veritas keeper with 24 shots on the afternoon and als created four corners while Veritas didn’t create a single corner.

Senior Isabel Franks rounded out the scoring with the Saints’ second goal in the first half.

Keeper Audrey Antesberger finished with two saves for STAB.

The Saints now get a shot at the LIS’ top-seeded squad Collegiate in the semifinals. The Saints fell 4-0 to the Cougars, ranked No. 1 in the state in VISAA D1, last Thursday.
