St. Anne’s-Belfield has had some historically dynamic offenses over the last decade or so, but this season the defining characteristic of the Saints’ attack might be balance.

It certainly was Wednesday night as six different players scored the Saints’ first six goals in a 19-6 win over Western Albemarle.

STAB jumped out to a 7-2 lead at the end of the first quarter with Timmy Myers capping that frame with his first two goals of the game. The Saints really got rolling in the second quarter where they reeled off six unanswered goals to take a 13-2 lead into halftime.

Myers finished with six goals and an assist on the night for STAB, with five of those goals coming before the break. Peyton Booth also had a big night with four goals while Evan Lustig notched a hat trick and two assists. Liam Hurley and Brooks Clarke each had a goal and two assists and Dax DiMuzio scored twice and had an assist. Pharoah Harris and Wes Martin each also scored.

In the cage, Callan Baker had seven saves for the Saints. Liam Mullins led STAB with five ground balls.

Western held a significant 17-11 advantage at the faceoff thanks in large part to Tyler Spano’s effort (he finished with a game-high 13 ground balls on the night) but struggled to generate chances and convert on offense as STAB outshot the Warriors 42-24. Edward Parrish scored three goals and notched an assist for Western while Ross Bassett scored twice.

The Warriors will look to bounce back Wednesday against Freeman while STAB (4-1) hosts St. Albans Tuesday.
