While next week the St. Anne’s-Belfield boys lacrosse team will be able to determine its rank in state in the VISAA Division 1 tournament, the Saints will get to prove themselves nationally shortly thereafter.

In the inaugural GEICO High School Lacrosse Nationals, the STAB boys lacrosse team was one of eight teams selected from across the country. In the eight team format, the quarterfinals will be on May 28 at Catholic University’s Cardinal Stadium in Washington D.C. The event will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU and streamed live through ESPN3 and the WatchESPN application available on connected devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

Joining St. Anne’s in the tournament are IMG Academy (Florida), Hill Academy (Ontario, Canada), St. Sebastian’s Country Day (Massachussetts), Woodlands (Texas), Georgetown Prep (Maryland), Lawrenceville (New Jersey) and Christ School (North Carolina).

STAB will square off against St. Sebastian’s in their quarterfinal matchup at 5 p.m. on May 28. The winner will play in the semifinals the following night. The championship game is set for May 30 at 7 p.m.
