Fork Union and William Monroe’s boys basketball teams seesawed back and forth Saturday afternoon in the Papa John’s Tip-Off Challenge.

The Blue Devils got the final edge though, with James Pelham knocking down a buzzer beater to win 65-63 over the Dragons.

Monroe held a 19-15 advantage in the first but the momentum swung back to Fork Union and by halftime it was 33-30 Fork Union. Monroe stormed back in the third and led 49-46 going into the fourth. That’s when the Blue Devils got going and surged down the stretch to set the stage for the game-winner.

Caleb Moss led the Blue Devils with 18 points while James Pelham finished with 17. Antonio Pelham finished with 12 points. Quadir Jones and Larry Elder each chipped in six.

Alex Kinsey led Monroe with 19 points while Logan Barbour finished with 17 points, knocking down nine of his 11 free throws.

Trevaughn Powell had eight points for Monroe while Jonathan Sexton scored six.
