Each night it seems like a different player is stepping up for Monticello.
Thursday night was Kayley Norford’s turn.
The Mustangs’ Norford threw a complete game shutout as Monticello beat Western Albemarle 2-0 to pick up another solid win after beating Louisa earlier in the week Norford also went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run.
That run proved critical as the Warriors’ Kara Madison cruised in the circle for the most part on the other side, scattering five hits without surrendering a single earned run. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Hannah Shifflett and Elizabeth Lawhorne each had RBI. Makaysha Brock scored the Mustangs second run on a Lawhorne double in the top of the sixth.
