Monticello holds off Goochland

Monticello’s Victoria Scott lost her perfect game late in the fourth inning, but the Mustangs still got their win with a 1-0 victory over Goochland Thursday night.

Scott, one of several Mustangs celebrating senior night, got the job done in the circle and on the plate against the Bulldogs. Scott went 1 for 3 with a double and scored what became the winning run after hitting a double in the second inning. As a pitcher she struck out 12 and surrendered just a single hit and no walks as the Mustangs moved to 15-1 overall and 10-1 in the district.

Brittney Via went 2 for 2 at the plate while Amber Dillow posted a 1 for 3 night.

While Goochland pitcher Brandi Wilson struggled earlier in the week against Orange County, she played solid against the Mustangs, limiting them to just four hits. Callie Alvis broke up Scott’s perfect game for the Bulldogs, but Goochland couldn’t scratch out any runs in the contest.

Monticello battles Western Albemarle, a team that came within a run of the Mustangs in their first meeting.
