Miller baseball punches final four ticket with win over Isle of Wight

Miller School’s baseball team blew past Isle of Wight in the VISAA Division II quarterfinals Tuesday, rolling 10-0 to secure a spot in the state final four.

 

Adam Hackenberg ended the game with a grand slam in the fifth that was part of a strong day at the plate where he went 2-for-4 with a triple and the homer while posting five RBI. Ethan Murray went 2-for-2 with three runs scored while knocking in two runs, including the first tally on an RBI single that scored Jack Marshall in the first inning. Marshall scored three times while going 2-for-3 at the plate.

 

Stu Barrett cruised to the win on the mound, scattering three hits and four walks while striking out three in five efficient innings.

 

With No. 5 Atlantic Shores beating No. 4 Greenbrier Christian, the top-seeded Mavericks will face the Seahawks at 11:30 p.m. at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights Friday.
