Covenant is headed to the state finals.
The Eagles shutout LIS rival Fredericksburg Academy Friday in the semifinals 3-0 to lock up the berth in the final against Carlisle.
Covenant leapt out to a 1-0 lead before halftime when Becca Hansell buried a goal in the first half off a Virginia Hill assist.
Mallory Crandall gave the Eagles a two-goal lead in the second half before Maddie Thornton capitalized on a short corner via a Kristy Leahong pass to close out the scoring.
Covenant takes on Carlisle tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the championship. The game will be played at Collegiate’s Goochland campus in Richmond.
