Breakthrough: Orange County lacrosse beats Eastern View

Starting any sports program from scratch is no easy challenge, and wins can often be hard to come by at first.

Teams, coaches and players just have to keep plugging along, keep working to get better, keep searching for an opportunity.

Orange County’s boys lacrosse team kept doing that and broke through Monday night, edging Eastern View 11-10 on the road to pick up the program’s first win.

Thomas Payette, a second team All-Jefferson District pick a year ago, led the Hornets with five goals. Wyatt Oliver also had a huge night with four goals and Sebastian Ramirez finished with two goals.

The Hornets will try and keep the momentum going Thursday when they host Liberty-Bealeton.
