Western Albemarle girls basketball jumped out early on Louisa County and rolled 51-32 over the Warriors Wednesday night

The Warriors led 20-2 at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 37-8 before halftime. Sydney Sherman did the bulk of the heavy lifting on offense with 21 points, going 10-for-15 from the field.

Sherman wasn’t alone in making the Lions pay in the paint as fellow forward Caity Driver pulled down seven rebounds to go with her eight points. Driver was dominant on the defensive end too with five blocks and three steals. Elisabeth Coffman chipped in 10 points to go with four assists, three steals and three boards. Annie Meenan finished with six points.

Alexis Miller led Louisa County with 15 points, with all 15 coming from beyond the arc as she knocked down five 3-pointers. Miller accounted for six of the Lions’ eight points in the first half. Alexis Chaman chipped in eight points.

The Warriors will try and keep things going Friday against Monticello on the road while Louisa hosts Powhatan the same night.
